Strategy consultant helping cultural organisations, councils and creatives make decisions and plan for the future.
Allegra has worked as a producer, curator and consultant in the cultural sector for 20 years. As Head of Strategic Projects for the Arts Team in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Allegra developed the business case for the extension of Theatre and Orchestra Tax Reliefs, which was made permanent in 2024. She worked as a sponsor for Arts Council England within the department, supporting the delivery of the ‘Let’s Create’ strategy, and led on stakeholder engagement during Covid. She has a deep understanding of the UK cultural landscape, including funding and policy environment.
Prior to joining the civil service Allegra worked in a range of cultural venues including Cambridge Junction, Battersea Arts Centre and as Director of Folkestone Quarterhouse, where she co-founded a series of co-created festivals with local artists, activists and members of the community. These festivals focused on social issues including gender equity and the climate emergency.
As a freelance consultant has a track record of shaping and delivering organisational strategy and transformation projects. She has worked as Executive Producer for Wise Children and Little Bulb Theatre, supporting both companies to join Arts Council England’s National Portfolio of regularly funded organisations. She has undertaken options appraisals for capital purchases and developments, developed the business case for capital fundraising including successful Levelling Up and Cultural Development Fund bids, delivered a Cultural Action Plan for North Somerset Council and a cultural audit for Bath & North East Somerset Council.
Allegra is currently working at Theatre Royal Plymouth as Transformation Associate and Deputy CEO (sabbatical cover).
